Last July, we traveled to Portugal on a production mission- check out part one of this travel journey.
Since it was summer and I had my whole family with me, I really wanted to take the weekend to go to the beach.
I had previously saved this image of the living room and its sandy floor…let me tell you, it was even more magical in person.
This quaint secluded place was a perfect relaxing getaway. So peaceful and beautiful AND the sandy floor is heated!
It made for a cozy touch on the chilly evening.

We decided not to rent a car as they had 4 bikes on property. We biked to the beach,
which took about 30 min, but made for a really fun family adventure and good exercise.

Where to Stay

CASA NA AREIA & CABANAS NO RIO

Silent Living’s amazing driver/tour guide Nuno picked us up from the Lisbon airport and drove us to Comporta.
We stopped at a grocery store so we could make dinner ourselves at such late arrival.

Where to Eat

Breakfast is included daily.  A lady or two come to cook a delicious breakfast of eggs, bread, fresh orange juice, yogurts,
cereals and sliced meat. Antonia still talks about how delicious the breakfast was here.

My chef husband made most of our meals past breakfast.  It was amazing how far the little grocery run took us.
We stayed three nights and ate dinner out only once. Nuno told us there are only two directions you can go, left or right at the main road.
Left to the local fishing village, right to the more hamptonesque Comporta. We opted to go left to the fishing village.
Although quaint, I think next time we will go right...Sorry Nuno!

The next day we biked to the beach where we had a delicious lunch at a beach club right on the sand.
It was one of the fancy places Nuno may have talked about...the vibes were more ...

Where to Play

The Comporta beach was beautiful, full of shells and the water beautiful, albeit quite chilly. Biking there was fun and easy with the family,
as it's mainly small roads with not much traffic.
Once we arrived at the beach, we stashed the bikes in the bushes right before the long boardwalk to the beach.
We simply put the bikes on the ground thinking no one would see them...plus the place is so safe and innocent.
Well, to our surprise, two out of the four bikes were gone when we came back!   Not knowing what to do,
we texted our contact from Silent group and started walking towards the house...it will take us hours.
Three minutes into our walk, we found the bikes sitting by a building next to a bus stop. Someone just borrowed the bikes to make the bus on time!
Faith in humanity restored! :) Happy to find the bikes, we went home and stopped for ice cream on the way.

Back at the house, it's lovely to hang by the pool, or in the sandy living room watching a movie at night.
We also explored near by on bikes and found the other property that belongs to Silent living called CABANAS NO RIO.
I hope if we come back with a bigger group of family or friends we can stay in this single bed shack on the water....
it would make for the most romantic stay, feeling like you are on the edge of the world alone.
